I am Chorus Master of Belfast Philharmonic Choir, Musical Director of The Garleton Singers and Director of Music of the Church of St. John the Evangelist, Edinburgh. At the keyboard I accompany the National Youth Choirs of Scotland, as organist and pianist and I play harpsichord/organ continuo and orchestral piano with all the Scottish Orchestras as well as the Ulster Orchestra. I was the former Accompanist of Belfast Philharmonic Choir for some 5 years and regularly work as a freelance accompanist of both choirs and instrumentalists, most recently giving two recitals of Violin and Piano music during the Edinburgh Festival.
My organ recitals frequently feature an eclectic mix of music from 17th century English and German composers such as Gibbons and Buxtehude through the romantic works of Mendelssohn and Liszt to music from the 20th century including Hindemith, Messiaen and Leighton. You can recent performances here.
I am in demand as an arranger and orchestrator. My "highly excellent arrangements" * have been commissioned and performed by various leading organisations including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Children's Classic Concerts and the Ulster Orchestra. Over the years the BBC have commissioned a number of arrangements, including works for Proms in the Park and the launch
of BBC Alba and I have been involved in a number of Folk/Classical crossover projects, most recently in collaboration with the award-winning folk band Dallahan. Sample sound files can be found here.
Not surprisingly, my long association with choral music has given rise to a number of arrangements for choir, both for the sacred and secular medium. A portfolio of my pieces which are available for hire and/or purchase can be found under the 'Arrangements' tab. Please note that the list is always growing so do check back every now and then!
As well as the above I am an Examiner
for theAssociated Board of the Royal
Schools of Music.
